Giving back to the community – Charity in Corporate Culture 2024

As we wrap up 2024, we want to pause and reflect on the meaningful impact we’ve been able to make together. At Standss, giving back to our community is more than a responsibility—it’s a part of who we are. This year, thanks to your unwavering support, we partnered with some incredible organizations that are changing lives across Fiji. This blog post will show the amazing work these charities are doing and how we’ve been able to contribute.

Frank Hilton Organization

The Frank Hilton Organization provides critical services for children with disabilities in Fiji, including speech therapy, physiotherapy, audiology, and mobility assistance. They also operate a school and hostel for children from remote areas, promoting independence and inclusion.

We continued our long-standing partnership with the Frank Hilton Organization, supporting children with disabilities through rehabilitation, education, and empowerment.

A highlight of the year was our participation in the Amazing Wheelbarrow Race, which helped raise funds to ensure the continuation of vital services such as speech therapy, mobility support, and physiotherapy.

Fiji Cancer Society

The Fiji Cancer Society plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families affected by cancer in Fiji. It emphasizes early detection and regular screening to combat cancer, which remains the third leading cause of death in the country.

Standss demonstrated its commitment to the community by making a financial contribution to the Fiji Cancer Society. This donation supported the Society’s critical initiatives, including providing transportation for patients, funding diagnostic tests, and ensuring access to chemotherapy drugs not covered by government programs.

Kidney Foundation of Fiji

To combat kidney diseases in Fiji, we assisted the Kidney Foundation in providing dialysis treatment and raising awareness about prevention. Our support aimed to ease the financial burden of life-saving dialysis for underprivileged patients.

In Fiji, many people face immense financial challenges in affording dialysis treatment, placing a heavy burden on them and their families.

Standss has an Employee Donation Program that empowers our staff to support the causes they care about most.

We are proud to share that our team had chosen to support the Kidney Foundation of Fiji, helping patients receive the dialysis treatment.

St. Christopher’s Home

This year, we helped St. Christopher’s Home continue its mission of providing a nurturing environment for children without family support. From shelter to care, this organization has been a beacon of hope since its founding in 1968.

Standss extended its support, by making a financial donation. This contribution helped the home continue its mission of providing shelter, care, and education to children without family support.

The funds were directed toward essential needs, including food, maintenance, and other resources, ensuring the children could grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. Standss is proud to have played a role in supporting the incredible work of St. Christopher’s Home in fostering hope and stability for vulnerable children.

WOWS Kids Fiji

WOWS Kids Fiji is an organization that stands beside children battling cancer and other serious illnesses, offering unwavering support to both the kids and their families. They help ease the challenges of treatment by providing financial assistance, transportation to appointments, and emotional encouragement during difficult times.

Beyond care, WOWS Kids Fiji works to raise awareness about childhood cancer and advocates for better healthcare options in Fiji.

Their mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure no child faces cancer alone, creating a circle of hope and community for those who need it most.

Standss supported WOWS Kids Fiji in their mission to assist children diagnosed with cancer, ensuring they receive the care, transport, and support needed for treatment and recovery.

Salvation Army of Fiji

The Salvation Army Fiji has been operating in Fiji for decades, it provides critical support to vulnerable communities, including food relief, emergency disaster response, education programs, and shelter services.

The Kauwai Youth Restoration Home is a newly established shelter in Samabula, Suva, aimed at providing care and support for at-risk children and youths. This initiative is part of the government’s “Lesu Ki Vale” taskforce, in partnership with the Salvation Army

This year, Standss played a significant role in funding the Kauwai Youth Restoration Home. Their contributions have helped support the establishment and ongoing operations of the home, which provides shelter and rehabilitation for at-risk youths in Suva. This funding is crucial for the home’s programs focused on trust-building, de-addiction, and community reintegration, ensuring that vulnerable children receive the care and support they need.

Home of Compassion

The Home of Compassion, founded in 1952 in Suva, Fiji, has been a lifeline for the elderly and disabled individuals who need long-term care. With a mission rooted in compassion, it provides a nurturing and dignified environment for its residents, many of whom are frail or disabled and require specialized care.

The Home is managed by the Sisters of Compassion, who dedicate themselves to supporting people from all walks of life, regardless of their background. Over the years, the Home has been a beacon of hope, thanks to the generosity of donors who help maintain and improve its services.

Standss is proud to support the Home of Compassion through a financial donation, ensuring that these vulnerable individuals continue to receive the care they deserve. This contribution helps provide essential medical supplies and support for the Home’s day-to-day operations, making a real difference in the lives of those who call it home.

Fiji Society for the Blind

The Fiji Society for the Blind is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting visually impaired individuals across Fiji. They offer rehabilitation programs, mobility training, and assistive technology to enhance the quality of life for their members.

The Society also advocates for greater inclusion and accessibility, working to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the visually impaired community in Fiji. Their mission is to ensure that people with visual impairments can lead fulfilling and independent lives.

Lastly, we partnered with the Fiji Society for the Blind to improve access to education and rehabilitation services for visually impaired individuals, fostering independence and opportunity.
