Outlook Can Automatically File Reply Emails with the Original (as the reply is sent)

By: standss , Apr 7th, 2010

Are you replying to an email? Would you like your reply and the original email (that you’re replying to) to automatically be filed to another folder.

Outlook can do this for you automatically if you are using QuickFile for Outlook. If you are not familiar with QuickFile then click here for more information on QuickFile for Outlook.

If you are a QuickFile user…

Reply to an existing email and click Send. QuickFile will automatically display the Send&File screen.

Click the Show Option hyperlink (bottom right corner of screen)

Tick the box labelled File original Received Email with Sent Email.
Click Send & File.

When the email is sent, it will automatically be filed out of the Sent Items folder to your chosen folder. The original email (that you replied to) will also be moved out of the Inbox to the same folder.

If you would like to have the File original checkbox ticked by default…

Go to your Inbox and from the QuickFile toolbar, click More -> Settings (to display the Settings screen).

Tick the relevant boxes and click OK.
